Volunteer Information

Thank you for your interest in volunteering. Student Accessibility Services (SAS) recruits volunteer note takers for students who have disabilities or medical conditions that interfere with their ability to take notes. Note-taking Services is looking for organized and responsible individuals capable of sharing notes for courses on a regular basis.

Volunteering for note-taking is a great opportunity to add experience to your resume as you can list note taking activity as volunteer work. The number of volunteer hours correspond with the time spent in class while writing notes and, at the end of the term, we are pleased to provide a Letter of Acknowledgement recognizing this volunteer work upon your request.

Notes can be taken either by hand or on a computer. For handwritten notes, we suggest using black ink with a regular point on regular or high density white paper. For typed notes, we suggest Arial typeface, 12 pt font, in black on a white background. Both of these suggestions contribute to the best readability of notes.

Letter of Acknowledgement

Please download the Letter of Acknowledgement Request form and return to SAS directly or email to sasrec@ualberta.ca

Please note that 15 working days are required to process Letters of Acknowledgement during December and April. During all other months, 10 working days are required.
