Adaptive Technology and Assistive Devices

In order to access the adaptive technology available at either the Edmonton or Augustana SSDS offices, a student's needs will be evaluated by the Adaptive Technology Specialist. The evaluation may involve an introduction to technology new to the student, including an opportunity for hands-on self evaluation. This will help determine the potential of new technology to serve the student's academic needs. Depending on the level of experience with the equipment and/or software, training may be required.

Once the assessment is complete and recommendations made, SSDS staff will assist with applications for funding for recommended equipment, software and training. During this process, the technology in the labs will be available for use.

SSDS technology is housed in its computer lab within the office and at some libraries and satellite labs throughout the Edmonton campus. Students at Augustana may use the computers in the Student Services Resource Centre.
